The BU-65590A is a multi-protocol AMC card providing new levels of performance and flexibility for systems interfacing to a MIL-STD-1553 and/or ARINC 429 data bus. There are up to four dual redundant MIL-STD-1553 channels operating in BC, RT, MT, or RT/MT modes. Eight ARINC 429 receive channels and four ARINC 429 transmit channels operate in high/low speed with automatic slew rate adjustment. The card also contains six digital discrete I/Os, an IRIG-B time synchronization input, two RS-422/485 Serial I/O channels, and two RS-232 Serial I/O Channels. The combination of multiple I/O on one card provides a unique solution by combining multipurpose protocols on one card saving valuable space, power, and weight in micro-TCA or ATCA systems.
Each 1553 channel uses DDC's Extended Enhanced Mini-ACE® (E²MA) architecture which is fully backwards API compatible with DDC's field proven, Enhanced Mini-ACE®. Each 1553 channel is individually configurable as a Bus Controller (BC), Remote Terminal (RT), Bus Monitor (MT) or combined RTMonitor. The advanced BC architecture provides a high degree of flexibility and autonomy by improving message schedule control, minimizing host overhead for asynchronous message insertion, facilitating bulk data transfers, double buffering, message retry, bus switching strategies, data logging, and fault reporting.
The RT architecture provides flexibility in meeting all MIL-STD-1553B protocols. The card has an intelligent hardware offload DMA architecture that dramatically reduces PCI-E bus and host CPU utilization while storing 1553 monitor data in a convenient and portable IRIG-106 Chapter 10 file format. Storing data in the industry standard IRIG-106 Chapter 10 file format allows DDC's cards to be used with digital flight data recorders.
Each ARINC 429 channel supports maximum data throughput on all channels while providing message scheduling, label filtering, and full error detection. Received data can be stored in either FIFO buffers or system address label mailboxes. Each channel features independent selection of data rate and parity, and automatic transmit channel slew rate adjustment. Transmit data can be sent in FIFO mode or scheduled rate mode on each transmit channel.
The card includes the MIL-STD-1553 Enhanced Mini-ACE® (EMACE) Plus C Software Development Kit (SDK) and the ARINC 429 Multi-I/O C SDK with drivers for Linux®, VxWorks® and Windows® 2000/XP, including source code samples and detailed documentation. These SDKs allow users to develop source code to simulate, monitor, or troubleshoot 1553 and/or ARINC 429 data buses with support for the latest versions of operating systems including VxWorks 6, Linux® 2.6, and Windows® 2000/XP.
This SDK allows you to quickly integrate DDC's 1553 and/or 429 cards into your C source code applications. A common SDK exists across all operating systems allowing the programmer portability across different platforms. The easy-to-use high-level functions abstract all low level hardware accesses and memory allocation such that specific hardware knowledge is not required.
